Dr. Michael Cortese is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and received his Doctor of Medical Dentistry from the Farleigh Dickinson University School of Dentistry. He holds a Certificate in Maxillofacial Prosthetics and Dental Oncology from the University of Texas Health Science Center M.D. Anderson Hospital and Tumor Institute. He is one of only 350 accredited maxillofacial prosthodontists nationwide. Dr. Cortese focuses on listening to patients, understanding their concerns and needs, and evaluating each patient as an individual to plan the best possible course of care.

 

Prosthodontics is often mistaken by lay people as being cosmetic dentistry, but this is not the case. A cosmetic dentist is simply a dentist who does most of his or her work on cosmetic dentistry issues; there is no special training or certification required, and most cosmetic dentists have only a few weekend courses in addition to their regular dental training.
